Essay on nurse anesthetist

I have always dreamed of being a nurse anesthetist in future and when I was asked to write an essay on nurse anesthetist, I was naturally very happy and exited. Certified Nurse Anesthetics simply known as CRNAs are highly trained nurses who perform the role of safely providing more than 30 million anesthetics for obstetrical, surgical and trauma care patients on an annual basis in the United States of America alone.

These nurses administer every type of anesthetic work in almost every type of setting while providing care for every type of procedure or operation ranging from open hearth surgery to the pain management programs.

Normally, this highly trained group of nurses provide anesthetic services to patients in collaboration with surgeons, desists, anesthesiologists and all other types of qualified practicing physicians.

Given their status of nurses who perform a high degree of practice, these groups of nurses are usually accorded a very high degree of autonomy and also professional respect. For more than 125 years, CRNAs have been practicing in the US and they began providing quality health care to American soldiers who had been wounded during the Civil War.

In the present day, there are more than 35000 of this kind of advanced nurses and interestingly, close to 45 percent of then are men. This is interesting because when the word nurse is mentioned in many places across the world, the image that comes to mind is a lady wearing white dress and a specialized cap who acts as a doctor’s assistant. In the whole nursing profession in the US, men make up only 8 percent of the total population.
