After defeating Mark Anthony and Cleopatra in 31 B.C., Octavian was the solely individual capable of stabilizing the Roman Republic covering fire to how it had been prior to Caesars death. Although to the public it appeared that he had given back great power to the senators, he was still in control how the Republic operated. This was referable to the fact that the senate granted him special civil and military powers. by doer of this he was able to stay in power and book the Senate to continue with its traditions. He furthered this by looking and playacting as if he was just another public servant, never acting as if he was in charge. He furthered his plaza by creating Praetorian Guard, which was meant to provide security and prevent rebellion in Rome, and made improvements to their standard of living that ensured loyalty to him. He won popularity with the poor citizens by using his own money to grease ones palms food for them.





I believe that Augustus was a perfect political leader for that time. He able to stabilize a government that was shattered by civil war and establish himself as ruler by making it appear that the people cute it that way. He didnt try to take over and establish his own form of rule, even though he had the means to do so. He placed him in a position to be loved by but at the akin time he implemented policies that helped the people.
