Basseri and Their Culture
in that respect are many polar cultures around the world. The Basseri, of Iran, are a pastoral society. Chiefdoms are a political unit tranquil of a number of interdependent communities with centralized political leadership, (Nowak, Laird. 2010) 6.1 para. 2). Or are they pastoralist? You see in all of my studies I contribute contradicting information, some rate they are headlanddoms but then others say that they are pastoral nomads. I am going to rally them a pastoral chiefdoms society. Either way they migrate to different pastors for their herds to graze on. The Basseri live in the southern region of Iran, by the city of Shiraz, also known as the Fars, and speak, mostly, Persian.
The Basseri live in tent packs of anywhere from, two to five tents, during the winter, to about tercet thousand in the spring summer months when all the camps go into together in the Persepolis plain (Coon, pg. 636 2009). Each tent brood of a nuclear family, usually being husband, wife, and kids.
The Basseri are not a kinship based society, rather, they are based 1 economics. Each camp unit has its own leader called a katkhoda. The katkhoda is mostly established for making decisions like when to migrate and where to camp (Coon, pg.637, 2009). The katkhoda also can talk to the Basseri chief more freely then can just the common tribes people.
The chief of the Basseri is an contagious position. He travels with his own group of elite section of the tribe. He personally commands this group of people, as they are his valet, master of stores, groom, scribes, and jesters (Coon, pg. 637, 2009). The Basseri chief is called the Khan. He is described as having great power and allow.
