Although the randomnesss devotion to states rights was a major footing the South fought the Civil struggle, it was not a major effort for their failure to win as evidence by economic, military, and diplomatical issues. The Confederate States of America, led by Jefferson Davis, was formed by southern states that had pledged to secede from the union if Lincoln had won. After his achievement in the presidential election of 1860, the Confederate States seceded that same year. On the other hand, the Union was led by its president, Abraham Lincoln. The Civil War broke out at Ft. Sumter, South Carolina when Abraham Lincoln move a shit to supply the magnetic northern fort there. The South was rapidly angered, and opened fire on April 12th, 1861. Lincoln quickly called for 75,000 volunteers to join the military, and siteed a naval blockade of Confederate ports, which would continue for 5 years. Although the South did have many wagess, the Norths advantages simply won the war for them. The Norths demise of the South had nothing to do with the Souths devotion to states rights.

They had about 3/4th of the nations wealth, and the nations railroads.
