Wyndham Vacation Ownership started in 1966 under the name Fairfield Resorts in a north central Arkansas t protest called Greer’s ferryboat Lake. The first office was a small converted suck station and sales were limited to home sites and lots. The first place would become Fairfield’s first resort – Fairfield Bay. In 1969 Fairfield spread out its development into Fairfield Glade in Tennessee.
Fairfield Resorts made a depart to their business in 1978 by introducing an interval based willpower under the name “FairShare.” This new design offered families the opportunity to own equity in the resort. In 2002 Cendant Corporation acquired Equivest and Trendwest making them the largest vacation ownership company in the industry. Cendant Timeshare Resort Group Inc. changed its name to Wyndham Vacation Ownership Inc. in association with a companywide spin-off in 2006.
