The original book cover for Catcher in the rye whisky is plain and boring. If someone was to pick up the book without recital the back, they would have no idea what the book was even about. provided the title and a few stripes brook be found on the front. The book cover I chose to do for Catcher in the Rye demonstrates the three main symbols throughout the book. Holden seems to be stuck in time and cant lead forward. Losing his fellow due to leukemia still authentically bothers him, he cant move past it. His biggest question is where do the ducks go in the winter? Holdens been kicked out of many several(p cherry-redicate) schools due to grade issues but only he knows that he cant move forward from losing Allie and its still really affecting him.
The first symbol I put on the cover is Allies baseball mitt, Holden carries it and has had it since he lost his brother. To holden it is give care a security blanket for young children. Its a reposition of him and Holden cant seem to let it go. Its his last social occasion he has of his brother before he passed away. The mitt is a sign that Allie is still in Holdens life even by and by his death.




I also put the cliff and a red hat on my cover, Holden has a red hat in the beginning of the book that makes it seem like a catch hat, but really its a hat for hunting and putting to death bulk, the reason I used this was because Holden finally decides when he wants to elevate up the wants to be a catcher in the rye and save children from falling off cliffs. Which if the hat symbolized cleansing people why would he want to save people from killing themselves? Holden realizes his brother died from something that could not be prevented but if he was to benefactor someone trying to kill himself then it would make a difference.
The ducks on the cover are a symbol of existence free and getting away. Being able to be felicitous and move forward. Holden can not move forward from his brother dying.
